...on an episode of 24 last night (an older, Season 5 episode). Amusing.
This move, although it reeks of blatant politicking (like the Palin appointment as VP), is going to be a tricky one for Obama to handle. How can Obama blast McCain about taking a break from campaigning, (including pulling all advertisements!!) to deal with the largest financial crisis the US has seen since the Great Depression? I'm looking forward to seeing how he'll respond (and if the debate will go through tomorrow night.

You're right, it was blatant politicking. I guess it is basically moot now, given that the debate happened anyways.
The blogs I read laughed at McCain's attempt here, and that's pretty much the best response Obama could have hoped for.

Although some hardcore bloggers will disagree, I don't know if the fact that blogs laughed at the move is particularly relevant. The mainstream media didn't look at it in the same way (ie - they took it seriously), and for the average American undecided or swing voter, that's the message they'll get.
Obama hasn't really done anything like this yet, and I'm wondering if he's planning on it and hasn't had the opportunity, or if he just hasn't figured out a similar way to score a couple of cheap points.
